Workings Trials Section

The working trials section was started by a group of enthusiastic members who were interested in this aspect of working dogs, and wanted to branch out beyond obedience.

Although the section has never been very large in terms of numbers, it's members have achieved some outstanding successes. Over the years there have been several 'ticket' dogs, one going on to become a Working Trials Champion. The section has always been orientated towards TD, although a few individual members have practised PD in recent years.

The expertise within the section has attracted members to the society from far afield, some making a round trip of over 100 miles to train every Sunday.  Over the years several members have received judging appointments up to ticket level at trials all over the country, and some have been involved in running nationwide working trials societies. Almost all have assisted at trials run by other societies, in every conceivable capacity from track laying and stewarding to helping out in the kitchen. For many years Aylesbury members were exclusively responsible for running ASPADS Oxford Championship trial.

In January 1996 the Society staged its first Open Trial, and continued each year until 2001. In 2002 it was cancelled due to the aftermath of the foot and mouth crisis, and has not been held since. From the beginning the stakes run were CD, UD and WD, with veteran being added in the second year.

An explanation of Working Trials and the exercises involved may be found here.
