Raising Money for Charity

These are the charities we have supported since 1992, when we celebrated our silver jubilee year with a fund raising Charity Quiz Night. This has now become an annual event, combined with our annual presentation evening. We have also raised money with a Demonstration Team performing at village fetes and other local events, and tombolas and training rings at our annual Obedience and Agility Shows, (also see below for details about a special initiative during 1994 and 1995)

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

£91

In addition to the above, during 1994 and 1995 when the RSPCA was building and developing Blackberry Farm as a local animal rescue centre, our membership decided to sponsor a kennel at the centre. This entailed raising £3,500 over a twelve month period. In fact, the required sum was achieved in just seven months, and we went on to raise a total over £4,000.

This  was achieved in a variety of ways, including:

  • bridge evenings

  • exemption show

  • sponsored dog walks

  • sponsored down stays

  • private dog training

  • training ring at obedience show

  • tombola at obedience show

  • marathon 24 hour sponsored fish-in

  • selling 'bricks' in the kennel at £1 a time

  • lending library of dog related books and videos

  • sales of Aylesbury Canine Cook Book, with recipes submitted by members
